What’s in the report

  1. Current business value. Your business valued four ways: equity, asset, enterprise and liquidation value, with the earnings and revenue multiples behind each.
  2. Exit value goal. The gap between today’s value and your target, and the priorities most likely to close it.
  3. Financial and operating factors. The financial inputs we used, plus factors such as leadership depth, customer concentration and recurring revenue that raise or lower your value.
  4. Industry benchmark multiples. Market multiples from private-company sale transactions in your industry, drawn from Business Valuation Resources (BVR) data.
  5. Three-year financial trends. Income, assets and liabilities side by side, so you can see the direction the business is heading.
  6. Eight ratios compared with your industry. Liquidity, solvency, profitability and efficiency ratios benchmarked against similar businesses, each with short- and long-term steps to improve.
  7. Minority interest impact. How control and marketability discounts change the value of a partial ownership stake.
  8. Deal structure and value drivers. How the way a sale is structured affects value, and what moves your valuation multiple up or down.
  9. Valuation fundamentals in plain language. Clear explanations of each type of value and when it applies, so you can use the report with confidence.

Questions about packages

See all questions

How much does a business valuation cost?

Our fixed-price packages are Essential at $995, Comprehensive at $1,695, and Growth at $1,995. A Certified Business Valuation, used for partnership disputes, divorce, and IRS matters, is always custom-priced based on the situation.

How long does a business valuation take?

Your report is delivered 7–12 business days after we receive the financial information we need. The biggest variable is how quickly the documents come together, which is why Comprehensive and Growth include help gathering them.

What information do I need to provide?

Three years of financial statements. We use them to calculate a market-based valuation by benchmarking your business against others in your industry. If you are not sure what to send, the Comprehensive and Growth packages include white-glove help with documents and direct collaboration with your CPA.

What is the difference between fair market value and liquidation value?

Fair market value is what a willing buyer would reasonably pay a willing seller for the business as a going concern. Liquidation value is roughly what the business’s assets would bring if it closed and the assets were sold off. Every report includes both, so you can see the value the business adds as an operating company.

What is in the valuation report?

A detailed report, typically 20–30 pages: your business valued four ways (equity, asset, enterprise and liquidation value) with the multiples behind each; the gap to your exit goal; industry benchmark multiples from private-company sales; three years of financial trends; eight financial ratios compared with your industry, each with steps to improve; the effect of minority-interest discounts; and plain-language explanations of how valuation works.
